Despite the apparent downward trend in occupational segregation by origin and gender in the EU, cross-country analysis shows the existence of different inequality patterns with a geographical component. Heterogeneity emerges as a key feature within the EU, since the behaviour of EU-born movers and third-country nationals differs according to the host country. Understanding this reality can help policymakers not only in the establishment of a common migration framework, but also in the development of tailor-made integration policies.
